MilesWeb made its name in India and is now expanding to the global market. However, coverage alone isn’t enough to draw me to a provider.

In fact, what impressed me most was its low prices. Heck, the smallest plan starts at just $0.60/month!

I just had to review MilesWeb and see if a decent service at such a small fee is even possible.

Naturally, I got a hosting plan and prodded every facet of the platform to see how it works.

So, did I finally find a web host to dethrone Hostinger as the king of affordable hosting?

You’ll just have to keep reading to find out.

What Is MilesWeb?

MilesWeb is a hosting provider originating from India. It was founded in 2012 with the idea of having a comprehensive set of services that can fit every user.

It’s more than just a local host, though. The company’s core principles quickly drew it to popularity, and, today, it has data centers all around the world. MilesWeb cloud even borrows  the infrastructure of the top public cloud companies like AWS. Talk about worldwide coverage.

Naturally, it has a broad range of services. They range from basic Linux shared hosting to advanced virtual configurations.

But how does the solution actually perform, and are the features any good? I tested the provider and got the answers.

Let’s jump straight into the MilesWeb review so you can get all the details you need.

The Essentials—Uptime, Speed, Support

Let’s start with the basics. This is where every provider gets to showcase its quality or lack thereof. Those that do poorly usually have little to offer across the board.

1. Uptime—99.98%

Server availability is one of the most significant factors when picking a hosting company. If a server goes down, so does your website, and who wants that?

Hosting companies pour millions into keeping their service running close to 100% of the time. High availability is an excellent sign of quality hosting, and it’s essential for reaching your audience.

And, if MilesWeb reviews are to be trusted, the provider is pretty reliable. I hooked up my MilesWeb site to StatusCake to see how the service holds up.

I was thrilled to see extremely positive results. MilesWeb has an average uptime of 99.98%—and that’s across a 20-month testing period.

The uptime has been perfect for the last six—not even an indication of an outage. And the downtime before then comes just a few minutes of service interruption.

And it gets even better! As of recently, MilesWeb guarantees 99.95% uptime. Get any less, and you qualify for 10% of your service fee in credits.

MilesWeb hosting permits about 20 minutes of monthly downtime, which is excellent. It’s always good to have a legally binding contract make the good uptime official.

“MilesWeb has an incredibly reliable infrastructure with 99.98% availability and an above-average SLA.”

2. Poor Frontend and an Even Worse Backend

Speed plays a huge part in having a successful website. Users want web pages to load as quickly as possible, and you can probably imagine how much everyone hates a slow site.

The speed of the infrastructure determines how quickly your website can load. It’s all about delivering content quickly and handling traffic without slowing down. Slow hosting almost always equals a slow website.

I set up a test site as soon as I got my MilesWeb cPanel login and checked how fast the machines actually are. I collected over 20 months’ worth of metrics to give you an idea of what performance to expect.

Regrettably, the provider performs with mixed success.

For starters, the TTFB averages around 890MS. It’s a far cry from a good result, and it pegs MilesWeb as one of the slowest hosts tested on HostingTribunal.

On average, the shared servers take 1.48 seconds to load a basic web page to completion. It’s hardly better than the response time. You can’t even put MilesWeb vs. HostGator, which is one of the slower providers.

Where things really fall apart, though, is speed under load. I did a Load Impact test to see how the servers handle heavier traffic.

300 virtual connections extended the response times to an average of 13.64 seconds. One test can be anomalous, but this is the average across 20 checks. It’s more than a one-off problem with the server.

For reference, the majority of providers can maintain response times under 1 second. In other words, MilesWeb hosting grinds to a halt when supporting a traffic-heavy site.

“MilesWeb’s speed metrics are far from promising. The shared hosting plans might be cheap, but this takes its toll.”

3. Decent Support

Support is the final hosting essential left. Agents should be there whenever you have a question or need help making the service work. After all, tech support does you little good if it can’t resolve issues quickly.

I jumped right into the system to see how efficiently MilesWeb’s team handles real hosting problems.

Remarkably enough, MilesWeb support is solid.

Every time I tried contacting it, I got an instant reply. It shows the team is well-staffed and can keep up with the growing user base.

The agents gave me accurate answers on what the platform can do and explained how various software works. They are fairly knowledgeable, have a solid grasp of the service, and have no issues breaking down complex matters.

The knowledge base is pretty extensive as well. It covers everything from introductory guides to optimizing self-managed MilesWeb VPS. It’s a nice point of reference for both beginners and professionals.

One issue is that the host only really deletes old articles if somebody complains. Consequently, many pieces are outdated, some referring to software from five years ago. It’s something to watch out for.

“MilesWeb has a decent support team and an extensive knowledge base. “

The Pros of MilesWeb

There’s plenty of things that impressed me during the making of the MilesWeb review. Here are the most significant advantages you can get if you sign up.

1. Choice of Data Centers

MilesWeb might have started in India, but it certainly has a global presence today.

The provider has its own tier-3 and tier-4 data centers in Canada, the US, the UK, India, Singapore, and Australia. That’s solid coverage over four continents.

The infrastructure features n+1 and n+2 redundant systems and various security and reliability measures. The machines are equipped with:

  • Intel Xeon E5-2680 v2 CPUs at 2.80GHz
  • 128GB of DDR4 RAM
  • RAID-10 solid-state drives

You can read more details about the facilities on the provider’s website. Suffice it to say the entire infrastructure is fault-tolerant and extremely sturdy—no wonder MilesWeb reviews praise the reliability.

And if that’s not enough, MilesWeb offers managed services for both AWS and DigitalOcean. Both leading public cloud companies with near-infinite scalability and incredible elasticity. Needless to say, the cloud infrastructure you can use is top-notch.

The providers add 21 more different facilities to the offer. In case you weren’t keeping count, that’s a total of 27 facilities worldwide.

Wherever your visitors are, the low-cost web hosting provider can help you reach them.

2. Account Isolation and Security

Reliability is everything in web hosting. Companies invest millions (even billions) into making sure their services remain up. Just think—when’s the last time Google went down?

There’s good reason big names fight for 100% availability. If your website goes down, it angers everyone who tries to visit and finds nothing.

MilesWeb has multiple measures in place to ensure visitors can always reach you.

The first is the CloudLinux operating system. As opposed to most Linux distros, CloudLinux isolates each shared hosting account. The benefit is twofold.

First, each MilesWeb cPanel account can be dedicated a specific resource pool. No one can go over their allocated CPU and RAM and hog the server. In other words, you’ll always be able to access the resources you purchase, no matter what others on the same server do. This helps you avoid various errors and slower load times due to poorly organized servers.

Second, CloudLinux’s CageFS technology stops users that access one shared account from affecting the server’s main configuration files. If one client gets hacked, the attackers won’t be able to affect other users. It’s quite a security advantage.

Speaking of security, MilesWeb has a bunch of other tools to ensure the integrity of your account. A network firewall, WAF, and malware scanning are all part of the offer.

Plus, MilesWeb hosting comes with a brute force prevention system. BitNinja is there for DDoS protection and CMS hardening. Many providers charge extra for such cyber security measures, so you can consider it a bonus for signing up with MilesWeb.

It amounts to an incredibly safe and reliable platform.

3. Windows Hosting

CloudLinux is all fine and good, but what if you don’t want Linux at all? Windows has its own set of advantages, and many website owners prefer it.

Fortunately for all Windows Server fans, MilesWeb has plenty of specialized services.

You can get everything from shared ASP.NET hosting to robust MilesWeb cloud dedicated servers. The host offers full management across the board, so you don’t have to be an expert to use the solutions.

The shared plans run a standard Plesk setup with all the relevant ASP.NET technologies. You can host an entirely decent website on IIS.

The best part, though, is that shared Windows hosting is incredibly affordable. In fact, it has the same prices as Linux shared hosting—as low as $0.60/month. It’s incredible since Windows hosting plans are almost exclusively more expensive than Linux ones.

And if you need something more flexible, you can go for MilesWeb VPS or even host an app on top of AWS. These solutions can work for more demanding ASP-based sites. Alternatively, you can also run things like forex trading apps such as MetaTrader.

There are some limitations. For instance, MilesWeb doesn’t provide management for applications like SharePoint or Exchange Server.

However, if you want to run a website on Windows Server, MilesWeb has a slew of plans that fit the bill.

4. Managed WordPress Hosting

WordPress hosting solutions are another sought-out service.

Many web hosts tailor special hosting plans for WP. And, as long as the optimization on point, a specialized WordPress server can get you access to improved speed, security, and a host of other advantages.

It turns out MilesWeb WordPress hosting is no joke.

You can go for WordPress-optimized cloud plans. These are fully managed, meaning the tech team takes care of all the technical stuff like updates, security patches, server stack optimization, and website monitoring. The team keeps your server and all the software in tip-top shape, so you can focus on the website.

The plans run on LiteSpeed web server, and MilesWeb takes advantage of the LSCache plugin. The combo can get you much faster load times than the standard LAMP stack setup.

You can access quite a few more tools, like auto image optimization, Cloudflare CDN with Railgun, SSH access with WP-CLI, Gzip and Brotli compression, etc.

It’s a remarkably comprehensive offer for WordPress users. MilesWeb cloud plans are a bit pricier, starting at $7.20/month. That said, the extra resources are worth it if you want the most optimal WordPress platform.

5. Free Domain

MilesWeb can save you a few bucks on a domain name. You can take advantage of the promo on all but the smallest hosting plan, if you pay for a year or more in advance.

You can go for a .com or a .in extension. The former is the most popular globally, while the latter is a nice option for local sites in India.

After the first year, a .com domain name would renew at $12/year and a .in one at $8.65/year. These are about average rates for the TLDs, so it’s nice to see that MilesWeb remains fair with the pricing.

All in all, MilesWeb domains are a helpful way to save a few bucks.

6. Crazy-low Prices

There’s affordable hosting, and then there’s MilesWeb.

The provider has some of the lowest starting prices I’ve seen from a hosting company.

The smallest plan starts at a mere $0.60/month. Most hosts with prices this low restrict the features so much that the solution becomes unusable. I’m happy to report MilesWeb isn’t one of them.

You do need to prepay for three years to get the best price. This means you can get the first three years of hosting for just $21.6, though, which is a steal. It means MilesWeb has some of the cheapest hosting you are likely to find.

When I first saw the pricing, I expected humongous renewal fees. Surprisingly, the plans renew quite reasonably too.

Once your first three years are up, the starter plan goes up to $3/month. It’s still a fair deal, so you can prepare for the renewal fairly easily.

The provider’s prices are way lower than that of most competitors. It even wins in a match of MilesWeb vs. Hostinger.

All in all, MilesWeb has the most affordable starting price out of any global hosting solution. Enough said.

7. SSL Discounts

Aside from selling different hosting and domain services, MilesWeb is also a reseller of GeoTrust, GoGetSSL, and Sectigo SSL certificates. The three companies are the biggest names in SSL hosting and sell some of the most recognizable certs on the Web.

As a reseller, MilesWeb purchases certificates in bulk and sells them at a discount. You still get all the standard advantages but at a reduced price.

So, a certificate that would cost you $29/year from Sectigo is $11/year with MilesWeb. Likewise, you can get a $344/year GeoTrust EV certificate for $200/year. It’s a pretty good offer.

MilesWeb’s team will take care of installing the SSL certificate properly. It is something to look for in a reseller, since you don’t want to be stuck with installing it yourself.

If you need a certificate that inspires more trust in your site visitors, you can get discounted ones directly from MilesWeb.

8. Free Migration

Moving a website to a new server is usually best left to the experts. However, professional migrations can get quite pricey.

Fortunately, you can contact MilesWeb support, and the provider’s specialist team will handle the website transfer.

Aside from the standard cPanel-to-cPanel transfer, you can also get a website moved from DirectAdmin. There are no Plesk-to-cPanel transfers, but you can get a Plesk-to-Plesk migration on the Windows plans.

It’s a lovely addition if you already have a site somewhere and are looking to move it affordably. Paying a third-party company for the same service can easily cost $200+, so it’s a proper money-saver

9. Money-back Guarantee

MilesWeb’s shared plans come with the standard 30-day money-back guarantee. You can just request a refund within the first month and get it within four-five business days.

It gives you enough time to see how the service works without risking your money. If MilesWeb turns out not to be for you, you can just back out.

A few MilesWeb reviews did complain this only applies to some plans. You can get a refund for shared, WordPress, reseller, and email hosting plans.

Services like VPS or managed cloud hosting are outside the scope of the policy. There is some conflicting info about this in the knowledge base, but the support confirmed it. The ToS only specifies refunds for the four services listed above.

Still, most users start on shared hosting, so you’ll likely be covered by the money-back policy. It’s a fair offer.

10. Positive User Reviews

You can make a good case for real users being the best judge of a hosting provider. After all, who knows a service better than people who use it to host real websites?

The overwhelming majority of MilesWeb reviews agree the service is completely fantastic. It scores a 4.8/5 on TrustPilot and 9.0/10 on HostAdvice. That’s 93% customer satisfaction across 3,000+ user reviews.

Most testimonials reiterate my findings—MilesWeb offers a reliable service at affordable prices. It’s a textbook budget-friendly solution, and customers love it.

The Cons of MilesWeb

The host gets many things right, but there are a few things you should know before you sign up. Here are the cons I discovered making this MilesWeb review.

1. Limited Plans

MilesWeb’s starter plan is ideal if you have next to no money for hosting expenses. However, you kind of get what you pay for.

For one, the plan limits the storage to 1GB. It’s a meager amount, considering you need to fit all your website files into it. I’ve seen even free hosting with more space.

Your database is limited to 256MB. This is okay, though, since you’d have trouble fitting a bigger one into a 1GB plan.

The second plan is a bit better, but it still caps you at one website. It’s kind of annoying you have to splurge on the largest tier to set up multiple sites.

MilesWeb still has exceptionally cheap hosting plans. However, the low price does have its drawbacks.

2. Backups Cost Extra

Having an automatic backup solution for a website is a massive bonus towards reliability. Sites change quickly, and a ton of things can compromise your data. It’s always good to have a recent copy of your site stored away safely.

That’s why all of the leading hosting providers add a backup system free of charge. It’s pretty easy to integrate one into cPanel, and the benefits are extraordinary.

However, MilesWeb’s cheap web hosting has you pay extra for daily backups. They cost $0.15/month on the smallest plan, $0.30 on Swift, and $0.65 on Turbo.

Yes, the backups are pretty cheap. Still, it’s kind of annoying that MilesWeb presents an essential feature as an add-on. The gimmick just makes the plans look more affordable than they actually are—kind of a shady tactic to use.

3. Sales Tricks

One thing hit me even before I started making this MilesWeb review—I would have to navigate a ton of promo offers before I was done.

As soon as I entered the provider’s website, offers came in from all directions. Ads for various plans jump up in all areas of the website. And that includes live chat messages reminding you to buy and countdown timers that follow you around the page. And if you try to use the knowledge base, get ready to close a new pop-up every time you try to switch browser tabs.

Now, I’m not entirely opposed to a hard sell. However, MilesWeb kind of overdoes it. All the sales tricks make it difficult to navigate the site. The Indian web host gets no points for a straightforward sales process.
